Vinho Regional Alentejano, Portugal.
From J.P. Vinhos.
A blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep purple in the glass.
Chocolate and rich berries on the nose.
Fairly thick, quite rich, warm and chocolatey, spicy, tangy, cherry and raspberry fruit, red licorice, some bitterness and charred notes.
With time, the tanginess and charred bitterness increased, becoming almost grapefruit-rind like in its intensity.
Tart and drying on the finish.
Purchased at $13.15 (Canadian).
The wine started off very well and I was quite impressed, but it became almost undrinkable toward the end. Too bad.
