Not many winery names there I recognize, just Kanonkop, Beyerskloof, and Vergelegen. I would presume that some aren't even exported?

I am disappointed that Pinotage isn't there, but ....


There were just 21 wines awarded 5* out of 6000 tasted. Platter 5* are rare.

Seven are dessert wines (2 unfortified, 5 fortified.

Of the remaining 14 table wines, 7 are white, 7 red and of the reds, Cabernet was most succesful with 2 cabs and 2 cab blends

Shiraz -- which was supposed the be SA red variety of the future gained just one 5 *

If you are asking about exports to USA I don't know -- except I saw Fleur du Cap last time I was in the USA, and the Cape Point (Woolworths) is an exclusive bottling for the SA Woolworths chain (which is the equivalent of the UK Marks & Spencer chain than the US Woolworths- if thats any help)

At least one of the winners, Steenbergs Magna Carta is brand new, and since it is a 2007 vintage I'd guess they tasted it pre-release. N doubt the 5* rating will encourage importerd
