WTN: Ramirana Carmenere Reserva 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:28 pm

Maipo Valley.

Dark purple in the glass.

Green, leafiness on the nose. (Uh, oh).

Medium bodied, green, very dry and tart, sort of a red apple crispness, turning bitter toward the end.

Not very nice at all and the sort of wine that gives Carmenere a bad name.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Bruce - many thanks for saving me fifteen bucks.

I very nearly bought this wine while on vacation recently - so glad now that I didn't. Green pepper aromas, when that dominant, are a definite turn-off for my palate. I do love to eat bell peppers, but I don't like drinking them
