Yesterday's Costco purchase

by Linda R. (NC) » Mon Aug 20, 2007 3:53 pm

We went to Costco yesterday to pick up some low-priced everyday wines.

Smoking Loon Merlot - 7.99
Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc - 9.59
Rosenblum Kathy's Cuvee Viognier - 14.99
Cameron Hughes Lot 35 (gold) Cabernet Sauvignon - 11.99
Osborne Solaz Tempranillo/Cabernet Sauvignon - 5.99
Alamos Malbec - 7.99
BV Signet Collection Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon - 7.99
Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel - 8.39

So, how'd we do?

Gosh, I don't recognize any of those labels.

Is this Costco in North Carolina?

Yes, it is. The Smoking Loon, Ravenswood and BV are everyday grocery store labels. The Cameron Hughes is a new one to me. The rep was there talking about it. Apparently Costco got a bunch and is selling it at about 1/2 regular retail. They had two styles, Lot 35 which he said was a Bordeaux style and Lot 36 which was more an American style. Lot 35, according to the producer, should be decanted for 45 min.

I'd heard about Kathy's Cuvee Vioginer here. I've had the Kenwood SB before and liked it (heard about that here, too). The Alamos and Osborne looked good for the price.
