Kabinett is dead! Long live Kabinett!

WTN: 2004 Carl Schmitt-Wagner Longuicher Maximiner Herrenberg Kabinett, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Alc. 7.5%, a Terry Theise Selection, about $16 US.

Pulled this out of the cellar due to slight cork seepage. This is drinking very well now with lots of room for future development.

On the nose, a nice Riesling aroma with a hint of pineapple bouquet. After a few hours of air time, the palate opened up revealing a limey pineapple combination lifted by a nice acidic structure, a bit of mineral and something ever so slightly savory. Impeccible balance and moderate length. To my tastes, a ridiculous amount of flavor for such a small amount of money!

I had this the other night & agree it's quite the bargain, though my bottle was somewhat shut down.

The 2005 is an amazing wine as well, if in a different (vintage) style.

Love your title, very eye-catching. I too like to think of something out of the ordinary to draw attention to my post!!
I really have to pull some German rieslings out of the cellar.
