WTN: 2003 ESJ Rocks and Gravel

2003 Edmunds St. John Rocks and Gravel (CA) Extremely easy drinking S. Rhone blend. Lots of sweet cherry, Provencal herbs, leather with a spicy finish. Drinking really well right now but enough structure to age a while. Makes a feast out of a burger and fries. Yum.

Is this what was called Les Cotes Sauvages before? The '96 of that is still going strong...

Otto; Essentially, Les Cotes Sauvages became Rocks and Gravel. Initially the change was because I'd lost a key element of Les Cotes Sauvages, when I lost access to the Mourvedre source for that wine, and though the remaining blend was quite good, it seemed different enough that I didn't feel honest using the same name. The name itself was embraced so quickly and so enthusiastically that I've never been tempted to revive the old one.
