Just opened a 2000 Edmunds St. John Los Robles Viejos, and it’s in great shape. Based on the stickers he bought it at K&L, and it then moved across country to Boston, then to Philadelphia, and then to the cellar in Delaware where he stored his last wines. Resiliency from a $25 bottle of wine.

Tenth Thor bottle: Dom. Huet 2005 Vouvray Demi-Sec "Clos de Bourg" - brought to Dale's Memorial Day backyard barbecue, as Dale reported in a nearby thread: showed very nicely, a little waxy/wooly which is expected at 20 years, maybe lacking the oomph of a pristine bottle but in good shape, tasty, more yellow-fruit than citrus; Day 4: still fairly fresh, the flavor palette has totally filled-in, even as the acidity is dropping; tip o' the hat to the Thunder Gone.

Two bottles left, a 1er chablis and a St-Julien.

Eleventh Thor bottle: another Leoville-Barton '02. As good as the first: warm and comfortable, baked cherry pie and dirt, a beautiful older Bordeaux.

Excellent. My fall dance card is filling up. I have a lot of ‘02 LB.

I'll echo Jeff's comments, this was lovely (and the leftovers the next night smoothed out a little texturally, really easy to sit and sip).

2003 Edmunds St. John Syrah Wylie-Fenaughty is shockingly smooth as silk. Shows all the meaty, smoky character of Syrah, and is resolved to the point of uber-drinkability. There isn’t a rough edge anywhere near this wine. I am utterly shocked at this showing, and will have to grab one of my own bottles sometime soon, if the planet doesn’t either melt from this heat, or explode in a massive mushroom cloud to feed Orange Foolius’ ego.

Sounds great. Love to taste them when it all clicks, although with age, bottle variation does come for us all..
