Geo is still at work but I suspect he'll sign on later this evening.

Ohboy! The tradition lives! Goes without saying that I've kept that weekend clear on the calendar.

Thanks, Kim.

I'm here too. Just in time to go on vacation. But glad the WLDG is here again.

It's excellent to see you too, Vincent. It's been too long. Enjoy your vacation, but leave a trail of bread crumbs so you can find your way back!

Yippee! Welcome back, Jake. Here's your frosty mug with the JP monogram on it.

Me is here too. I could never post on the AOL board, and found it unreadable. I sincerely hope this will come alive. There is a demand for a good wine board...

Peter, I'm so glad to see you back! As one of the original WLDGers (and survivor of that eight-hour ride across Europe with Mary and me, and your two meters in a 1 1/2-meter car), you have a special place here, and you've been sorely missed.

Come alive? It IS alive! See also our (perhaps temporary) Moutonesque motto at the top of the forum page. :)

Well, then let's hope it will "stay alive", shall we? :D I have my avatar now, so what can possibly go wrong?

Thanks for the warm welcome, Robin.

Hope this works out for you Robin; I'm looking forward to some interesting wine-related discussions. The sectarian uproars on many of the boards the last few months make Lenin look like a piker.

I need to do some clean up work on my favorite links folder.

I'm committed to avoiding that here. We've tried hard over the years to keep the wine talk civil and intelligent. Sometimes we succeed better than other times. But it's our constant lodestar; and with recent experience to guide us, I hope we can keep it a priority. We're sure going to try.

It's good to see so may old friends here who for whatever reason were absent from the Netscape board.

This software's working very well for me so far, and that is from the 64Kbps dial-up line from home. Here's hoping it scales up well.

This is WAY more like it. :)

I've been in software QA for 15 years and I have to believe that no one ever did any 'real world' testing of the Netscape UI. Non-user friendly is being kind. I got real tired of navigating through that website.

It is good to get this kind of feedback, Larry. I've been on AOHell since 1988 and Netscape did not seem foreign to me. Obviously I was in the minority. Other people hated it.

I'm glad this seems to be a viable alternative to the old WLDG. It does seem to be very user friendly.

Hi Robin,

The excitement generated by this new forum is great! I think that I have read more posts from the old regulars in this forum tonight than I have in the Netscape forum for days. Just a much better format although I do somewhat miss the thread tracing ability. I am definitely going to be a regular. Another Noland Brother to put up with. Just can't get rid of them I guess.

Yes and no, my cold is better, but the rest of my staff are still sick. This has been the worst illness my workplace has seen in terms of amount of people out - ever.

I just need some rest; something that’s hard to do when you get up at 5am to lobby and meet with Senators and Reps at the State House and don‘t get home until 6pm.

Ah well. Happy to be here.

Best,
Joe

I was concerned about that, and we did even (briefly) consider reopening the old forum with its outstanding threading software. But there were just too many reasons not to do that ... reasons that sent us on safari in the first place.

It should be noted that, if the regulars will learn to use the "Quote" function consistently (as above), this makes it fairly easy to follow conversations through even a long and convoluted thread.
