You can thank Kermit Lynch for that.

Yup, David....I've found the K-L wines are becoming more & more overpriced. Don't buy them much anymore...though he does have some pretty interesting stuff.

Ditto. Shame. But they expect you to pay equally for both brands: the wine and KL.

Awwwww, David....I didn't say that "Alsatian wines are dismal". I said that the "state of Alsatian wines is dismal".
A subtle difference there.
AnneTrimbach was here in SantaFe this week. Across the board, I liked her wines. Of the Rieslings, I much preferred
the CuveeFredrickEmile to the Clos St.Hune (at $247...yoikes). The later was a bit too close to the Z-H model for my comfort. The former had a lot of petrol character that you only get in those wines w/ age. I even liked the PinotBlanc...probably because it is 70% Auxerois. She's quite a passionate/charming lady should you ever get to meet her.
She was unaware that they (LaurentBannwarth) is making Alsatian wines w/ Georgian qvevri, skin-contact fermentations, no SO2 additions...all the things that rings AliceFeiring's bells. She's (Anne) planning to check them out. Probably they'd drive any lover of Alsatian wines apoplectic and cause them to decry the "dismal state of Alsatian wines". :-) As these wines garner huge scores from sweetAlice and take over the style of Alsatian wines, probably even you'll complain, David!!!
Trimbach has a new "ViellesVignes" GWT that's not here in the US. She's hoping that PalmBay will eventually import it. Priced around $30.

Such a subtle difference that it's nearly meaningless.

What vintage of CSH was it? There have been some recent vintages in Alsace where ZH type wines were inevitable.

It is likely that the only people who still care about Alice are her minor fan base and you. And you use her as a punch line, so it doesn't count.

I recall it was the 2007, David. I really liked the wine and thought it will be a 20 yr Riesling, but liked
the petrol more in the CuveeFE.

Interesting. Most folks seem to be put off by the petrol. I like it, and you are clearly an educated and sophisticated Riesling enthusaist as well!

247 USD for the CSH? Suddenly the 155 I pay do not seem too bad...
