The few times I've tried to talk restaurant owners who didn't already have a BYO policy into it for a group wine event, that's always emerged as the problem. That, and their fear of the alcohol profit center that strangely doesn't go away even when we offer compensation thru corkage.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Maybe it’s just that the licensees just take the wording of their license “literally”. (The right (privilege) to “sell, serve and consume on premises”).
