I have always liked the idea of being able to sue critics for mal-practice. A critic in any field whose criticism consists primarily of puns on names, or titles and a couple of one liners is not qualified to be a critic, in my opinion, and should be held legally responsible for their inane criticism. They are definitely out there. If barbers can be sued for mal-practice, why not critics?

Thanks Hoke, by time I got around to looking up Philly incident I remembered you had already found it. I believe it was eventually dropped, as LaBan produced a receipt for "Steak frites" and other customers who said the steak in the steak frites was described as strip by waiters. I do think the overriding point is that in US (and UK) no one needs to really fear a libel suit for opinion. Even the Irish example cited was overturned on appeal. Pretty funny writeup:
