But what she didn't tell you is that Mom in Beverly Hills kept her wine in a beautiful decorative wine rack parked in front of the living room window, where it got really good afternoon sun. At least that's where Claude and David proudly stored their best bottles (until I lectured them after opening the 4th horrible bottle of 1970's classified growth wines). Good luck!

Speaking of which, my sense of smell came back on Sunday! I hesitated to make any immediate announcements lest it be temporary--there remains something wrong with my sinuses that I am still going to see a specialist about later this week--but it hung around yesterday too so maybe I'm back in business!

You know what, I'm so boring--I've never even been in the same room with cocaine (that I know of).

You are hardly boring, my dear...not even close.

Jensie,

This happened to me about 5 years ago.

It was in winter and although I rarely catch colds or get sick, I had caught some kind of bug.
I nevertheless decided to smoke a big cigar after Sunday lunch and lo and behold when my sinuses cleared up I found that I couldn't smell.
Obviously, I'd have done much better not to smoke that day...

Well, someone who likes food and wine as much as me was pretty put out.

My anosmia lasted about 2 months and my sense of smell has fully returned - as I'm willing to bet yours will.
I still smoke (about 3 cigars a week) and have never experienced the problem since.

Presumably, if we knew what caused it, we could cure it with a pill.
But it's probably due to come complex biochemical reaction.

All the best,
Alex
