CellarTracker database lists 14 Grüner producers in the USA: 6 from Oregon, 2 California, 2 Pennsyvania, 2 Washington, 1 Connecticut, 1 Maryland.

Of course some of these could be buying in grapes.

The earliest vintage on the database is 2005 from Reustle Vineyards in Umpqua Oregon.

I've had a Syncline from Washington. Good, but not inspiring.

I seriously doubt that any USA producer has old enough vines to make a Gruner to cause one to get weak in the knees. THat said let's just wait and see. I applaud the adveturous spirit of planting a grape that only the geekiest know anything about.

Ditto; I'm impressed that Pete came up with that many examples. But that aside, what I love about gruner is that it has something of everything I love about chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and riesling in one bottle. That is, when it comes from Austria it's like that: the Syncline, natch, lacked the precision and minerality. So that the wine Diane describes was so multi-faceted is compelling, would love to try that one.
