Still trying to get around to the `02 Rudera Chenin Blanc from SA. Tasted the `04 at a do this week, very very nice!!

It may go all the way up to 40 Deg F on Sunday, so I'm thinking beef ribs, slow cooked on the grill. That would call for a robust red. I'll have to see what treasures are in my cellar.

Tonight an '02 Terra Rouge, Sierra Foothills, Rousanne with shrimp stir fry. As far as the rest of the weekend, we don't plan ahead that far.

I was thinking of picking up a Picpoul de Penet that I saw at the wine shop to round out the Wine Focus topic for the month. Weather is supposed to be warm and it's crawfish season, so thinking it might go well well with a pasta dish

I am going to Farella-Park Winery on Saturday. I'll pick up another bottle of his awesome 1995 Merlot. Just a beautiful wine. But, I'm sure I'll taste his cab and blend, too.

I've got some more of that 1997 Montefalco Sagrantino. We're making a large batch of Linguine & meatballs. Figured this would be a perfect foil for this extremely dry red.

Might take a look at the 98 Montefalco Rosso also.

Was going to a do a semi-horizontal tasting of Napa Cabernet with some friends on Saturday of four different '97s. The prize (for our modest group) was a Diamond Creek and I was excited about tasting it. Reason I say semi is because there are only four of us, so that amounts to a bottle per person, so it's more than just a tasting... it's a drinking!

I have a couple of lesser expensive bottles that I've been drinking over the past several years from 1997 - namely Clos du Val and Silverado, both of which I love each year I've ever had them.

Now, the tricky part... I just learned our friends are fasting and cannot eat meat or fish. Shellfish are okay. So, I'm now thinking NOT to go the Cabernet route - feel it would be wasted if paired with meatless pasta or a crabcake or something.

Back to the drawing board - may become a Chardonnay/Pinot Noir dinner instead.

A new packet of tea! :) I'm not sure I'll be having any wine except for the remains of last night's Haut-Bailly and Montrose.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

Well, Zari and I are in the midst of a "North and South" marathon, so we'll be sitting on a couch with a lot of time to imbibe.

I'm eyeballing either an:

'01 ESJ El Dorado County, Wylie-Fenaughty Syrah, or an

'02 Goosecross Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, or an

'02 Goosecross Cellars Napa Valley AmerItal which is 75% Sangiovese and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, or

all three by the end of the war. I think dinner is going to be leftover CostCo pizza. :roll:

I like their wines quite a bit. They were having a "Valentine's Day" Party for $10 (for quite a spread of food!) and I bought a bottle of Amerital (the newest release). I also enjoyed their 2003 Howell Mountain, which is "resting" right now.

They're good people. You need to go hang out there during crush.

I was on my first date with Zari. We were in the tasting room with Jose. Zari had to go powder her nose and I told Jose it was our first date and he had to make me look good. When she came back, he cracked open a bottle of their flagship wine, ÆROS, saying that there weren't many customers for whom he would do such with the requisite amount of blah blah blah. The ruse worked!!! Zari and I have been dating for over a year now. In the interim, however, she has figured out that I am a wine dolt, but we do enjoy our trips to Goosecross. You should try their Viognier. It's very fragant and tasty.

Cool people, indeed! What a sweetheart he was!

I liked the Aeros quite a bit-although I might buy another Howell Mountain Cab for QPR.

The Viognier was quite nice, I remember. Just a good time place.

Howie, I picked up two slabs of beef ribs today at $1.49 per pound, I'll cook them next week. I also got two slabs of baby backs which I will do tomorrow. I would like to hear how you do do the beef ribs.

Its a warm weekend here in Adelaide, I have a bottle of 2002 Seppelts Sparkling shiraz to have with a T-bone steak tonight and a bottle of 2005 Noon rose to have with a warm Thai beef salad tommorrow night.

We will be pouring Pengwine reds from Chile -- Gentoo, Rockhopper, Humboldt and King (don't blame me for the names, I'm just the messenger). Never had them, and I didn't see any reference to them when doing a search of the forums.

Fairly sunny here for winter, but a little chilly. I just opened a '2000 R. Lopez de Heredia Rioja Viña Cubillo. This is a 2000 Crianza, and in current release!?!

First impression, light, young, even grapey notes, but also with a fair amount of secondary character. Odd, but intriguing.

The '06 Kim Crawford SB keeps calling my name. I've also got my eye on a 2001 Chivite Gran Feudo Reserva (Tempranillo blend). Thinking about pairing it with a nice rack of lamb.
