Following the Californian Cabernet Franc of last week, out of curiosity I opened another; this one from Israel, the Vitkin Cabernet Franc 2015. This rendition has a substantial body, smooth tannins and generic fruit. It has an elegant entry onto the palate, but leaves it on a slightly rising note that feels out of place. I'm curious to see how time will treat it. I also had the Castel Le Vie Rouge 2016, that's half Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot, except for a smattering of Syrah and Petit Verdot. It's lovely as a table wine, and surprisingly well made for an Israeli entry level Bordelaise blend; it's approachable and not overripe.
