Hi Harry,
I started the meal with Hagafen Brut Cuvee de Noir 2007. This wonderful Pinot based sparkling wine is as tempting to the eyes as to the palate. The rose' colored wine showcases a bouquet of strawberries with eye popping color and bubbles. The fruit follows through on the palate with brioche, white chocolate and tea. In other words, the expressive fruit is accompanied by pleasant yeast and other secondary flavors and aromas. With the entree I turned to the Flam Cabernet Sauvingon Reserve 2010. While some raspberry flavors linger in the background, this wine isn't about its fruit, but about the interplay of the edgy if elegant tannins with the alcohol and wood. The fruit is really just the canvas for the winemaker to spin his magic.
Best Regards,
